The rise of the sports documentary has been undeniable and steady and HBO is about to take it down a half a peg with 7 Days in Hell. Starring Andy Samberg and Kit Harington, the HBO mockumentary hopes to do to sports, what Spinal Tap did to music. Samberg and Harington play Aaron Williams and Chris Pool, America’s tennis bad boy, and England’s dimwitted prodigy. The mockumentary looks back at their legendary seven day tennis megamatch, 15 years later.
Featuring appearances by Fred Armisen, David Copperfield, Lena Dunham, Chris Evert, Will Forte, Karen Gillan, Filip Hammar, Jim Lampley, Howie Mandel, John McEnroe, Soledad O’Brien, Michael Sheen, Mary Steenburgen, June Squibb and Serena Williams.
Premiering July 11, on HBO.
